New National Minimum Wage Rates Rise From 1st October 2015
The Minimum Wage levels are an important part of the Payroll Services that we at J L Payroll provide for our clients, and they change every year.
The government has just announced that from October 1st 2015 the national minimum wage rates are to increase by 3% for workers aged 18 and over and 2% for 16-17 year olds, whilst the apprentice rate will increase by 21%.
The new minimum wage rates are as follows:
For workers aged 21 and over, the minimum wage rate will be £6.70 an hour (+ 20p/hour)
For 18 to 20 year olds, the minimum wage rate will be £5.30 an hour (+17p/hour)
For 16 to 17 year olds, the minimum wage rate will be £3.87 an hour (+8p/hour)
The minimum wage rates have changed for apprentices too
The minimum wage rate for apprentices will increase by 57p to £3.30 an hour, and applies to all apprentices aged 16 to 18 and those who are aged 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship. All other apprentices will receive the National Minimum Wage Rate for their age as detailed above.
