HMRC blocked thousands of furlough applications

HMRC has blocked thousands of applications for the government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) due to fears that they were fraudulent. More than 30,000 CJRS applications have been rejected by HMRC, according to reports. At the end of June, 1,526 CJRS claims were rejected because the companies applying had ceased trading. Changes to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) – Flexible Furloughing from 1st July 2020

The CJRS scheme will close to anyone who hasn't been furloughed for 3 weeks by 30th June. This means you will only be able to claim for employees after that if they have been furloughed for a 3 week period at any time before 30th June. Working back, this means that the last day an employee who has not been furloughed before can be furloughed is 10th June.
